Abstract

Food security refers to a condition in which food needs are fulfilled from the national level to the individual level, as reflected in the availability of sufficient food in terms of quantity and quality, safety, nutritional value, equitable distribution, and affordability, while remaining consistent with the religion, beliefs, and culture of the community, in order to support a healthy, active, and productive life in a sustainable manner. This study aims to analyze community perceptions of the food security program in Bakka-Bakka Village, Wonomulyo District, Polewali Mandar Regency. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach involving 30 informants who own household yards and actively participate in agricultural activities. The results showed that 80% of the community utilized their yards for cultivation, reflecting a high level of awareness of the importance of local food security and their active role in increasing household food production.

Government budgetary assistance, including the provision of plant seeds and fertilizers, was perceived as effective in improving food self-sufficiency and community participation. The program not only contributed to food availability but also strengthened household economies and fostered stronger social ties among community members. Although the community demonstrated positive perceptions of the program, several challenges remain, including limited technical assistance, uneven distribution of aid, and inadequate socialization of the program.
