The flexibility of the Islamic education system enable it to easily adapt itself to the surrounding and to create the new and appropriate format of its derivation in line with the new demand of the umma for the field in the modern era. A number of experiments had been performed by the Muslim figures, individually or collectively, to fulfill that demand in the early decades of the 20th century. How did they adopt the elements of modernity to keep the Islamic education remain in its own identity? For this purpose, it is important to understand and to explain the ideas and the efforts of Syaikh Hasyim Asy’ari of Tebuireng in modernizing his pesantren and its main contribution to the development of the new madrasahs in the country. Using the analytical-critical method, this examination is in conclusion that Hasyim’s allegiance to stand on his traditional bases in modernizing his pesantren has created a something useful for directing the orientation and giving the strong foundation of the Indonesia’s Islamic education modernism. His success in harmonizing the elements of modernity with the Islamic traditions under the religious inspection as the pivotal axis is his real contribution to the new madrasah with its own identity to distinct itself with the public school, though the government has “nationalized” the first to be in equivalent to the public school.
Misbahuddin Amin, Hasaruddin Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal Conference https://jurnal.stainmajene.ac.id/index.php/iceil/article/view/465 Thu, 02 Feb 2023 00:00:00 +0000 CORRELATION BETWEEN EXTROVERT CHARACTER AND SPEAKING ABILITY ON FIRST YEAR STUDENTS IN ENGLISH EDUCATION DEPARTMENT OF STAIN MAJENE https://jurnal.stainmajene.ac.id/index.php/iceil/article/view/474
This study discusses how significant the relationship between extroverted character and students' speaking ability is. It aims to find answers to the following questions: (1) What are the reasons behind their armed struggle and the search for secession? (2) What actions have been taken and are still being taken by the Philippine government to solve the problem of Muslim rebellion? This research was conducted using a literature study approach, with the aim of tracing the history of Islam in Mindanao. The results show that: The research shows that the causes of the Muslim problem are rooted in the Philippines' colonial past while the direct and current causes are traced to government neglect and abuse, corrupt local/traditional Muslim leaders, agrarian discontent and land disputes and, the rise of the Islamic religion in the whole world. The direction of modernization that is oriented to the west directly makes acculturation of western culture look more advanced and modern. The mixing of Turkish, Islamic and western civilizations has colored the identity of the Turkish people which Mustafa Kemal Ataturk considered as an obstacle to Turkey's progress. 1 Mustafa Kemal principally wanted a new civilization that could bring Turkey back to its glory. The change towards secularism is an ironic thing in the life of Turkish society because it has lived in the Islamic world for hundreds of years. This can be explained as something that is forced to accept secularism as a new order in carrying out the life of the nation and state. This problem needs to be analyzed, bearing in mind that Turkey, as an Islamic country that was very victorious in its time, was finally drowned in a touch of secularism. Another question is why Turkey has adopted secularism as a way to save its nation and state. Based on the above, this paper discusses the dialectic of secularism in Turkey and the role of Mustafa Kemal in the Turkish revolution
Hasan, Hasaruddin, Dian Firdiani, Umiyati Jabri, Ilham Assidiq Copyright (c) 2023 International Journal Conference https://jurnal.stainmajene.ac.id/index.php/iceil/article/view/479 Thu, 02 Feb 2023 00:00:00 +0000 The Development of Islam In Malaysia https://jurnal.stainmajene.ac.id/index.php/iceil/article/view/481
The problems in this research are 1. The Wahhabi movement is one of the religious movements that seeks to purify Islam from all understandings and practices that have deviated from actual demands. According to him, the basic creeds of the Wahhabism are essentially no different from what was stated by Ibn Taimiyah. The difference is only in how to implement and interpret certain issues. The belief or monotheism of Muslims has been contaminated by various things such as superstition, bid'ah and khufarat which can lead an Muslim to syirik. The revivalist group considered that the monotheism taught by the Prophet Muhammad had been shrouded in khurafat and the ideology of Sufism.
