Abstract

This study aims to explore the level of self-control and describe descriptively each aspect, including behavioral control, cognitive control, and decision control. This study was conducted quantitatively to explore the level of self-control of seventh-grade students of SMP Negeri 9 Majene. This study was conducted in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year, involving all seventh-grade students as samples through a saturated sampling technique. Data collection was carried out using a Likert-based questionnaire. Data were tabulated and analyzed using SPSS version 29, and categorized based on the psychological scale measurement formula. The results showed that self-control was in the moderate category, namely in the range44.73 < X ≤ 48.59 as many as 14 students. The average scores for each aspect respectively did not show significant differences, namely cognitive control of 15.67 (34%), decision control of 15.59 (33%) and behavioral control of 15.41 (33%). In general, the results of this exploration indicate that self-control in the moderate category still requires follow-up strengthening or intervention to be more optimal and adaptive for students. Cognitive control is the most dominant aspect, followed by the decision control which is greater than the behavioral control.
